# Sample mode

If you use the annotator without a GPU or you have less than 20 labels confirmed, the annotator will be in sample mode. What this means is the thumbnails will be picked from your first video at regular intervals, this is called uniform sampling. For example if your 1st video was 7 minutes long each thumbnail would be 1 minute apart. \

In sample mode if you wish to navigate to another file you can use the Lodestar Link method which is described in the shortcuts guide.
